Lois E. Allard
1933-2026
Lois E. Allard, 93, of Allen, Texas, passed away peacefully on Feb. 7, 2026. Born Jan. 11, 1933, she was the daughter of Albert F. and Mildred Lemley Doll. During World War II, her father’s career led the family to reside in Garfield Heights and Youngstown, Ohio. They later returned to East Palestine where Lois graduated from East Palestine High School in 1950 and married Halsey “Bud” Allard on June 23, 1954. Together they raised two children in East Palestine.
Family was central to Lois’s life. She was devoted, supportive, and consistently present in the lives of her children, attending school functions, sporting events, and milestones. Lois served as Sunday School teacher, Room Mother, Cub Scout Den Mother, Camp Fire Leader and was a source of strength. After relocating to Texas in 2004, she found joy in having the opportunity to be present for her grandchildren’s activities and celebrating their milestones.
For nearly 50 years, Lois worked full-time beginning at the EP Dairy Queen, then moving to the New Waterford Bank, First National Bank, and ultimately retiring after 34 years with the Treasurer’s Office of the East Palestine School District. She was a lifelong active member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Creekwood United Methodist Church in Allen, Texas, and a member and past president of the Gamma Omicron Sorority. An avid bowler, Lois participated in several bowling leagues over the years as well as Bible Study groups and card clubs.
Lois was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She welcomed everyone into her home with warmth, hospitality, and kindness. Her gentle strength and generosity touched many throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 53 years, Bud Allard. Lois is loved and missed by her son, Donald Allard (Anna) of Allen, Texas and her daughter, Bonnie Sutherland (David) of Alexandria, Virginia; five grandchildren who lovingly called her “Framma” — Gregg (Megan) Allard, Nina (Brian) Ishmael, Jared (Liz) Allard, Andrew (Annalesha) Sutherland and Patrick Sutherland, and four great-grandchildren — Harper, Hayes, Hallie, and Gianna (and a fifth expected in June).
A Celebration of Life will take place May 23 at 2 p.m. at Creekwood United Methodist Church, 261 Country Club Road, Allen, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lois’s memory to:
