Judith M. (Hall) Baker

1947-2026

LISBON — Judith M. Baker, 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 23, 2026 with her loving and devoted husband, Dannie at her side.

Judy was born April 18, 1947 in New Garden, a daughter of the late Jewell and Gladys (Smith) Hall.

She was a 1965 graduate of United Local High School and had worked and retired from Columbiana County Job and Family services. In her spare time, she enjoyed making ceramics and crocheting, but her passion in life was her family, whom she loved beyond measure.

Judy and Dannie were married for 55 years, and together they ran their family-owned and operated dairy farm and are the owners of Baker Towing and Trucking. The two were inseparable, and anywhere you saw Dannie in his tow truck, there was Judy, right beside him. They travelled thousands and thousands of miles together, answering calls for help. Although Judy herself was not a member of the Hanover Twp. Volunteer Fire Department, Dannie is a member, as are many other family members, and she was very proud of their dedication and service. She always monitored their calls for Dannie and had accompanied him on many calls, watching and reporting from the truck. She was a very proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved nothing more than being “Mammy” to her nine grandkids and four great-grandsons and was looking forward to the arrival of two more great-grandchildren on the way. She was even Mammy to many more than her own grandchildren, as many of her grandchildren’s friends called her “Mammy” as well.

She is survived and will be dearly missed by her loving and devoted husband, Dannie Baker, whom she married on Aug. 19, 1970. Dannie was the love of her life. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Jennifer (Jay) Swords, Frank (Beth) Baker, and Danielle (Brent) Rose; her grandchildren, Kristen Swords, JD (Jessica) Swords, Loren (Tanner) Curfman, Hannah Baker, Ethan Baker, Jonas Baker, Eli Baker, Brenden (Bethany) Rose and Brielle Rose; great-grandsons, Waylon, Bentley, Lane, and Braxton; her siblings, Dolores (Jerry) Marks, Robert (Ruth Ann) Hall, Jewell (Vicki) Hall, Jr.; sister-in-law, Aimee (Lee) Heacock; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Judy’s family would like to extend a special “Thank you” to the nursing and physical therapy staff at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation for their wonderful care and love they provided to Judy.

A memorial service celebrating Judy’s wonderful life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Mike Ward officiating.

The family will receive family and friends from 1pm until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
