Helen Joan Corey

1937-2026

NORTH LIMA -- Helen Joan Corey, 88, passed away with family by her side on Jan. 12, 2026, at Aventura Place Assisted Living in North Lima, where she had lived for seven years.

She was born on June 3, 1937, in Youngstown, a daughter of Edward and Helen (Thompson) Hough, and lived in Boardman until she married her husband Glenn L. Corey and moved to Columbiana in 1959. Helen cashiered for many years for Nemenz food stores, and later was the receptionist at Assumption Village and Marion Living Center.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory four children, Glennda (Blaine) Crowl of Columbiana, Bertha Corey of Mesa, Arizona, Bud (Kim) Corey of New Springfield and Earl Corey of East Palestine. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, Danielle, Mike, Nick, Kyle, Cody, Glenn, Amanda, Katie, Jarrod and Kristen; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Glenn L. Corey, whom she married on Jan. 19, 1957, and who passed away Dec. 1, 1998, and her sister Sandra Hough in October 2025.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm St., Columbiana.

The family will receive friends at noon, an hour before the services at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Columbiana Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Aventura assisted living and Patriot Hospice for the wonderful, compassionate care given to Helen.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made to Patriot Hospice at 986 Tibbets Wick Road, Girard, OH 44420.

The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
