Harry Thomas Laughlin
1933-2025
Harry Thomas Laughlin, known as Tom, passed away Saturday, Dec. 27,2025, at Life Care Center, Medina, Ohio, at the age of 92. He was born in 1933 and grew up in Columbiana, Ohio.
The family moved to Wellington, Ohio in 1950 and Tom graduated from WHS in 1951. He attended Miami University, Oxford, Ohio starting in 1951-1955. He graduated from Miami University with a degree in architecture and soon after joined the armed services and was stationed in Germany in the 3rd Armored Division.
Tom was designer and architect whose passion took him around the world before settling in Rome, Italy. He spent most of his adult life working and living in Europe. He spent many hours studying in the city of Rome itself on foot to discover the city close up. He worked for many years at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN in Rome, writing and editing boos on agriculture. An avid read and lifelong learner he enjoyed old radio shows, and pleasant conversations.
He is survived by three sons, Stephen, Christopher, and Michael: daughter-in-law Virgie Sanchez of San Leandro, California; and one daughter, Jennifer Bryant, and son-in-law Noah of Gorham, Maine. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
Tom was preceded in death by father H.C. Laughlin in 1984; mother Mary Hyland Laughlin 2009; Mary Cathrine McKenzie Laughlin 2013.
He is survived by brother James C Laughlin, and wife Carolyn S Laughlin and many nieces and nephews in Ohio.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
Auble-Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home in Wadsworth is in charge of the arrangements.
