Billie ‘Bill’ Frank Swift

LEETONIA — Billie “Bill” Frank Swift, 90, of Leetonia, left this world at 3:25 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, with his wife Marsha by his side.

He was born in Birmingham, Ala., on Oct. 29, 1935, the fourth of seven children to James and Katheryn Kunz Swift. He resided in Birmingham until he joined the Navy and was stationed in Tennessee. After being discharged from the Navy, Bill graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in electrical engineering.

As an engineer and salesman, he lived in Washington, New Orleans, Florida, Georgia, California and Nevada before moving to Ohio in 2006.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Walter, Mike and Jim; and two sisters, Lillian Ramsey and Catherine Hagerty.

Survivors include his wife, Marsha Troy Swift of Leetonia; three daughters, Joan (Dr. Brian) Mason of Michigan and Jean (Dave) Fossum and Jackie (Dave) Ponzini of California; three grandsons; three granddaughters; four great-granddaughters and he was soon to become a great-great-grandfather with the January arrival of his great-great-grandson. Also surviving is his sister, Theresa Mudwilder of Texas.

Bill will be missed by his family and friends.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for all the cards, gifts, visits and prayers during his illness.

Bill requested there be no calling hours.
