Leatrice ‘Sue’ (Earl) Hute

1941-2025

Leatrice “Sue” (Earl) Hute, 84, formerly of Salineville, died on Dec. 3, 2025 at the Windsor House at Parkside in Columbiana, Ohio following a lengthy battle with dementia.

Sue was born on April 11, 1941 in Salineville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Harold C. “Ted” Earl and Sylvia Irene (Duncan) Earl.

Sue did private cleaning for many area businesses. She was a member of Greenford Christian Church. She enjoyed playing piano and singing, frequently playing and singing for weddings. Her voice was always a favorite among parishioners, especially when she sang How Great Thou Art. Ben and his Mimi shared a love of music and listening to records, she was so proud of his musical talents and going to his performances.

Sue is survived by her husband Russell Hute, whom she married July 17, 1970; a daughter, Kimberly Lynn Cross-Fox (Jim) of Columbiana; a grandson, Benjamin Earl Cross, her pride and joy, of Columbiana, a stepson, Russell Woolf (Zeina) and a sister, Jeanne Elaine Wells (Terry) of Maryville, Tennessee; as well as her nieces whom she affectionately referred to as “Sweet Cakes”: Michelle, Jeannine, Julie.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025 at the Salineville Church of Christ with Care Minister John Bush and Mark Laughlin officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice and the Salineville Church of Christ or the Salvation Army.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Kerr Watson Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 10 from 4 to 8 p.m.
