William A. McCormick

1933-2025

EAST PALESTINE — William A. McCormick, 92, “kicked the bucket” as he always said he would, Oct. 2, 2025, at St. Mary’s Alzheimer’s Center.

Bill was born Aug. 8, 1933, in East Liverpool, Ohio, son of the late Cecil and Sue Gallagher McCormick.

He was a 1951 graduate of East Liverpool High School, attended Salem trade School and was a graduate of YSU. Bill worked as an engineer for Crucible Steel, LW Nash and Alcoa prior to his retirement. He was a proud veteran of the US Navy having served aboard the aircraft carrier Saipan during the Korean Conflict. He was active organizing his high school reunions and also traveled all across the country attending his navy reunions. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes in his younger years, rebuilding and tinkering with classic cars, helping his son with his drag bikes at Quaker Dragstrip and playing golf.

Bill is survived by three sons, Michael (Renee) McCormick of East Palestine, David (Brenda) McCormick of Golden Valley, Ariz. and Daniel McCormick of Columbiana; as well as two grandchildren, Greg (Regan) McCormick, Lindsay (Ben) Ratner, and six great-grandchildren, Colin and Ace McCormick and Lilly, Isabelle, Simon and Brodie Ratner,

He was preceded in death by his wife Delores McCormick in 2013 and a brother, Pat McCormick.

Following Bill’s wishes, he does not want to be remembered by the day he was laid to rest but wishes to be recalled by the last time you shared a laugh together. A private burial will be held at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens alongside his wife.

The family wishes to thank St. Mary’s Alzheimer’s Center for the compassion and love they showed to “Papa Bill.”

Linsley-Royal Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
