Mae Reese

1936-2025

LISBON — Mae Reese, 89, peacefully entered Heaven on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025 at Covington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation with her daughter, Connie, at her side.

Mae was born June 4, 1936 in Hanoverton, a daughter of the late James Henry and Edna Mae (Cornell) Saunders, and had lived her entire life in the area.

A 1954 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Mae worked at a variety of jobs over the years. She worked at Industrial Mining, where she would meet her future husband John, Marks Landing, the Salem News, the Daycare Center, 20 years at the Columbiana County Career Center, and Subway. She also loved to bake pies, and would bake for several area restaurants, and had won several blue ribbons for her apple pies at the Johnny Appleseed festival, as well as baking for many area families for the holidays.

She faithfully attended the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church, where she served many years as a deacon.

Her husband, John Edward Reese, whom she married Jan. 14, 1956, preceded her in death April 30, 2016. Mae was also preceded in death by her brother, James N. “Jim” Saunders, and by her sister, Donna Marie Saunders.

She is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughters, Connie (the late Kenny) Rudibaugh, Debbie Reese, and Teresa (the late Glenn) McMillan; grandchildren, Cory (Becky) Rudibaugh, Kristy (Jamie) Erb, Tiffany (Evan) Scheel, Christopher McMillan, Glenn (Kasey) McMillan Jr., and Stefanie (Tyler) Morris; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Kendall, Liliana, Nolan, Genevieve, Olivia, Blake, Landon, Savanna, Grant, Vivienne, Dillan, and Maycee; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests from 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025 at the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church, 111 E. Chestnut St., Lisbon. A memorial service celebrating her life with follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Mark R. Wilds officiating. A time of fellowship will follow in the church fellowship hall.

Private burial will take place at the Lisbon Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contribution may be made in Mae’s memory to Southern Care Hospice, 970 Windham Ct., Suite 9, Youngstown, Ohio 44512.

Mae’s family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses, doctors, and staff of Convington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation for their excellent care and compassion given to her during her stay with them.
