Gina Ann Polen

Gina Ann Polen, 81, of Salineville, Ohio died Sept. 7, 2025, in Weirton, W.Va., following a lengthy illness.

Gina was born in Tambol Rahaeng, Thailand, Jan. 15, 1944, a daughter of the late Bai and Lek Karakets.

Gina gained her U.S. citizenship in 1973. Many in Salineville may have known her when she worked at the small store formerly known as Pastore’s or Stewart’s Market. She was also a dedicated employee of TRW/PCC Airfoils of Minerva, Ohio for 30+ years where she worked mainly in the wax room. Although Gina was tiny in stature, those that knew her as well as her family and friends knew she was generous and big of heart.

Gina is survived by her loving husband Paul R. Polen whom she married March 24, 1967; a devoted daughter: Tina Taflan (John) of Weirton; a son: Troy Polen (Jennifer) of Fairmont, W.Va.; and five grandchildren of whom she was very proud: Justin Taflan of Newport News Va., Jarod Taflan (Amanda) of Weirton, Joshua Taflan (Tess – fiancee) of Weirton, McKenna Atha (Austin) of Fairmont W.Va., and Logan Polen of Pittsburgh, Pa.

One of 13 children, in addition to her parents, Gina was preceded in death by eight siblings.

As per Gina’s wishes, no services have been planned.
