Judith Walker (Beatty) Augur

Judith Walker (Beatty) Augur

1938-2025

Judith Walker Augur, nee Beatty, passed away peacefully on Aug. 15, 2025, just three days after celebrating her 87th birthday. In her final days, she was surrounded by the love and presence of her family, maintaining her grace, dignity, and gentle spirit throughout.

Born on Aug. 12, 1938, in East Liverpool, Ohio, Judith devoted her life to family, friends, and education. She was the valedictorian of East Liverpool High School’s Class of 1956 then continued her education working toward a bachelor’s degree at Stephens College in Missouri and later received her degree from Boston University. Judith pursued a career in communications at a television network in New York City and later returned to Geneva College where she received her teaching certification and master’s degree in education.

A dedicated kindergarten teacher for 28 years, Judith touched the lives of hundreds of young students with her patience, encouragement, and unwavering belief in the potential of every child. Her classroom was a place of warmth and wonder, where learning was guided with kindness and compassion.

Judith was also a passionate reader and lifelong lover of literature. She found joy in the quiet comfort of books and kept alive the lost art of letter writing — penning thoughtful notes to her dearest friends and family, often just to remind them they were in her heart. She enjoyed spending time playing Bridge with her friends and it made her day when she was the winner of the one-dollar pot.

She will be remembered not only for her nurturing soul and gentle nature but also for her quiet strength, generous heart, and enduring love for her family.

Judith was preceded in death by her parents, Robert F. and Olive L. (Walker) Beatty, and her brother, Dr. Robert Beatty.

She was the beloved wife of William “Bill” Augur, with whom she shared a marriage of 47 years grounded in deep affection and enduring partnership.

Judith was a proud and loving mother to Kimberly Sessa and her husband Michael, William Augur and his wife Angie, and Amanda Vecchio and her husband Paul. She was a devoted “Nana” to her 10 cherished grandchildren Chandler, Michael, William, Devin, Charlie, Elizabeth, Anna, Amelia, Lauren and Henry. Nothing brought her more joy than watching her grandchildren grow — whether in person or, in recent years, by attending their games, performances, and milestones virtually. She never missed a moment.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, grace, and quiet wisdom that will continue to live on through her family, former students, and all those who knew her. Friends may visit Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from noon to 1:30 p.m. Pastor Norm Eckert will conduct a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial at Riverview Cemetery.
