Elizabeth ‘Cookie’ Moore

1949-2025
LEETONIA — Elizabeth “Cookie” Moore, 76, passed away Aug. 2, 2025, at her home with family by her side following a long courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on July 18, 1949, in East Liverpool, daughter of the late Burt, Sr. and Elizabeth Douglas Burdick.
Cookie was a lifelong resident of Columbiana County. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in North Lima and was owner and operator of Cookies Cutting Corner in Leetonia for many years. Cookie also taught hair at multiple locations. She was a trainer and proudly traveled statewide for the Feel Better Foundation, a non-profit that supports children with life-threatening medical conditions. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and enjoyed sewing, crafting and spending time at her great grandchildren’s school and sporting events.
Cookie is survived by two sons, Bobbie Lester Jr. of Salem, Fred Lester of Leetonia; a daughter, Christine Ross of Salem; three stepchildren, Tom Moore Jr., Denise Muniz and Pam Houge; four brothers, Bert Burdick Sr., Daniel Douglas, Ralph and Jack Penn, as well as 21 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, who raised her since the age of 2, Frederick and Evelyn DeSellem; her husband Sam Moore in 2023; a son, Brian Lester Jr.; a brother, Charles E. Hall.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine with Pastor Pat Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to services. A private burial will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford.
