LISBON — Donald R. Carman, 93, passed away peacefully Friday, August 15, 2025 at his home following a recent illness.
Mr. Carman was born September 17, 1931 in Salineville, a son of the late Gerald W. and Grace (Russell) Carman.
A graduate of Southern Local High School, Don was a master carpenter, general contractor and owner of Carman Construction.
He was a Mason and member of New Lisbon Lodge #65 F&AM, worked with the Lisbon Booster Club by lining the football field and cindering the track; was a board member and past president of the Lisbon School Board, a member of the former Lisbon Jaycees; and was actively involved with many Habitat for Humanity building projects. He was a faithful member of the Lisbon First Christian Church and he and his wife, Eleanor loved to go square dancing and were members of the Tri-County Square Dancers.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Jean (Marshall) Carman, whom he married June 21, 1953, on January 14, 2021. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Terry and Steven Carman; sisters, Betty Hoobler and Sarah Griffith; and his brother, Gerald “Jerry” Carman.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his sons, Jeffrey (Theresa) Carman of Hurst, TX, Donald (Bennay) Carman of Salineville, and David (Kim) Carman of Stuart, FL; sister, Linda Lindner of Calcutta; daughter-in-law, Laraine Carman of Leetonia; grandchildren, Tracy Carman, Donald (Monica) Carman, Melissa (Melissa Hornisher) Carman, Emily (Ryan) McMillan, Terry “TJ” Carman, Brad (Danielle) Carman, Allyson (Shawn) LaSalle, Todd Carman, Alexander (Jasmine) Carman, and Jeremy Carman; 11 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
The family will receive family and friends from 10am until 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home.
A private funeral service will follow in the Lisbon Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Bob Garwood officiating.
