POLAND -- Stanley Ray "Stan" Kruger, 81, of Poland, Ohio, formerly of Wellsville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at his home.
He was born Sept. 14, 1943, in Wellsburg, W.Va., the son of the late Edward and Angeline (Intervia) Kruger. In addition to his parents, Stan was preceded in death on April 26, 2010, by his wife, Elizabeth "Jean" (Elder) Kruger, whom he married July 11, 1975. He was also preceded in death by one brother, David Kruger.
Stan graduated from Brooke High School in 1960 and proudly served in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963. He had a variety of work experiences from General Motors and Campbell's to Norfolk Southern and tending bar that he enjoyed, but he was most proud of following in his family's footsteps and being a coal miner for Windsor Coal.
Known for his generosity, gregariousness, sense of humor (and sometimes impatience), Stan was a beloved figure in his communities and was formerly active in many social clubs and civic organizations. Always ready with a witty quip; he will be remembered for his kind, fun spirit and enduring devotion to his family, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and flashy accessories. Stan left his mark everywhere he went, especially the lingering scent of his signature cologne. He was also blessed with a quiet, but strong conviction and was a Methodist by faith.
Survivors include two daughters: Amy (Chris) Plant of Poland, with whom Stan resided, and Theresa Morang of Winthrop, Maine, and her family; one son, Brian Kruger of El Portal, Calif.; two sisters: JoAnn Blake and Betty Kruger, both of Wellsburg, W.Va.; and three brothers: Edward Kruger of Altoona, Pa., John Kruger of Sicily, Italy, and Tom Kruger of Virginia. Also surviving are two granddaughters: Lauren Plant of Salt Lake City, Utah and Madison (Mawce) Plant of Wellsville. Stan leaves behind many special friends including his former companion, Linda Lamp of Steubenville. According to Stan's wishes, private services with military honors will be held on Friday, June 27.

Stan and Jean will be interred together in Spring Hill Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Stan's name to Patriot Hospice, 986 Tibbetts Wick Road, Girard, OH 44420.
