Thomas Anthony Povenski Sr.

1947-2025

Thomas Anthony Povenski Sr., 78, died Tuesday May 6, 2025 at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh, Pa., following a brief illness.

Thomas was born on Jan. 3, 1947 in Beaver Falls, Pa., the son of the late Zygmund Povenski and Genevieve (Kowalski) Povenski.

Having lived most his life in the area, Thomas was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School, was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and had been stationed in Mildenhall England. He continued his service in the Air National Guard in Avionics and sheet metal shops and retired out of the 171st Air Refueling Wing as a Master Sergeant. He was a lifelong catholic and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in East Palestine. He loved time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He loved time away fishing at Lake Milton, Berlin, Guilford Lake and Kinzua Reservoir. He also enjoyed dirtbikes for over 50 years and participating in the Harescramble races and riding with his friends and family.

Thomas is survived by his wife: Toni Ann (McCarthy) Povenski whom he married June 14, 1975; two sons: Timothy (Crys) Povenski of Morgantown, W.Va.,, Thomas (Brenda) Povenski Jr. of East Palestine; a sister: Sandra Brewer of Dallas, Texas; and four grandsons: Ziggy, Zeke, Thomas III and Tripp.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes in East Palestine, Ohio, on Saturday May 10, 2025 at 11 a.m. with Father Chad Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Linsley Royal Funeral Home on Friday May 9, 2025 from 4-7 pm.
