Lawrence E. ‘Larry’ Messenger Sr.

1943-2025

Lawrence E. "Larry" Messenger Sr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025, at the age of 82 at his home in East Liverpool. His death was pronounced at East Liverpool City Hospital. Born on March 26, 1943, in Wellsville, Ohio, Larry lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to his family, and service to his country.

Larry dedicated his career to the construction industry, where his strong work ethic and dedication were evident to all who knew him. A proud veteran, he served honorably in the United States Army.

In 1964, Larry married Joan Kidder Messenger, with whom he shared a remarkable 60 years of love and partnership. Together, they built a beautiful family and created countless cherished memories.

Larry's legacy of love and strength will continue through his surviving family: his devoted wife, Joan; his sons, Lawrence Messenger Jr., and Jim Messenger; his stepchildren, Karla Hawk, Brenda Hawk, and Teresa Savin Hawk. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his spirit and values.

Preceding Larry in death are his parents, Lawrence "Bud" and Evelyn (Davis) Messenger; his sister, Carol Messenger Spears; his brother, Bob Messenger, and his stepdaughter, Tina Hawk.
