Kevin Baird
2003-2025
Kevin Baird, 21, of East Palestine, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on May 9, 2025, at St. Elizabeth's Health Center in Youngstown, following a brief illness. Born July 23, 2003, in The Woodlands, Texas, Kevin was a lifelong resident of East Palestine and a 2021 graduate of East Palestine High School.
Kevin worked as a hydrocarbon loader at the Shell Cracker Plant. Outside of work, he followed his passion for music as the bass guitarist for his band, Slumber. He also loved spending time outdoors--hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes. Kevin was known for his big heart, his quick wit, and the joy he brought into every space he entered.
From an early age, Kevin stood out as someone who brought light and energy wherever he went. Whether at family gatherings, community events, or everyday moments with friends, he had a natural ability to lift spirits and make people feel seen and valued. His sharp mind and musical soul were just a few of the many gifts he shared so generously with others.
Kevin's friendships were defined by loyalty, humor, and genuine care. He had a remarkable way of making people laugh--sometimes with a single comment, a raised eyebrow, or a perfectly timed joke. His humor was effortless, his timing impeccable, and his kindness always sincere. He made ordinary days memorable and meaningful just by being himself.
To his family and friends, Kevin was more than just a son, brother, or husband--he was a true companion, a steady presence, and a source of comfort and joy. Whether offering thoughtful advice, showing up when it mattered, or simply being a light in someone's day, Kevin left an impact that will never fade.
His love for Rebecca, his best friend of six years and wife of eight months, was beautiful and enduring--a bond built on mutual respect, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Their relationship was a reflection of Kevin's capacity to love fully and wholeheartedly.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Milliken Baird; his parents, Steve and Jill Baird of East Palestine; his sister, Abbey Baird; his in-laws, Sherrill and Heather Milliken of East Palestine; his sister-in-law, Victoria Milliken, also of East Palestine; his maternal grandmother, Karen (Paul) Fike of Twinsburg; and his grandparents-in-law, Charles and Chris Steyer of Millrun, PA.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Sue Baird, and his maternal grandfather, James Powell.
Though his time here was far too short, Kevin's spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched. His laughter, his music, his sharp humor, and his deep love for others remain in our hearts.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 14, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor David Wiant officiating. A celebration of life will also be announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association at P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116 or LifeBanc at www.lifebanc.org.
