John Leishman
1944-2025
John Dale Leishman, 81, of Hammondville died on May 8, 2025, at Salem Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness.
John was born in Salineville, OH on March 13, 1944, a son of the late Raymond Leishman and Bertha (Nicholson) Leishman.
Having lived most of his life in the area, John was a graduate of Southern Local High School Class of 1962, was a member of the Church of Christ in Highlandtown and was co-owner and operator of Auger Mining in Salineville.
John was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He enjoyed all types of mechanic work and is said to have been a jack of all trades. He loved to mow his grass with a Pepsi and a cigarette in hand. John loved time with his family and especially cherished the precious time he spent with his grandkids and great grandkids. John was also an immense animal lover and enjoyed the company of his cat Stormy. He will now be rejoined with his beloved dogs Remi, Bianca and Blade, just to name a few.
John is survived by a son: John Leishman (Melissa Krayeski) of Painesville OH; a daughter: Lisa Archer (Greg) of Salem; two brothers: Jerry Leishman (Mary) of Canton and Wayne Leishman of Salineville; a sister: Sue Falconer of Minerva; Grandchildren: DJ Leishman (Diana Wang) of Minneapolis MN,
Sonya Leishman of Lakewood, Jonathan Archer (Faith) of Salem, Jordan Archer (Brock Baddeley) of Salem and Troy Leishman of Okinawa Japan as well as great grandchildren: Aria, Addi, Alex and Natalie.
Funeral Services will be held at the Kerr Watson Funeral Home on Wednesday May 14, 2025, at 6 p.m. with Pastor Lee Randolph officiating.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3pm up until the time of service at 6 p.m.
The family would like to invite friends to a time of food and fellowship on Thursday May 15, 2025, at the Brush Creek Township Garage 6701 Co Hwy 55 Salineville, OH 43945 at 1 p.m.
