1938-2025

Darlene (Dickey) Dangelo, 86, formerly of Summitville, died at Whispering Pines in Columbiana, Ohio on May 16, 2025 following a lengthy illness.

Darlene was born in East Rochester PA on December 13, 1938 a daughter of the late Arnold Dickey and Elizabeth (Wallace) Dickey.

Having lived her life in the area Darlene was a graduate of East Palestine HIGH School class of 1956 worked as a school secretary for Southern Local Schools for 26 years retiring in 2000. She was a member of St John’s Catholic Church and Negley United Methodist Church. She loved to Knit, Crochet and sew. She also loved to bake and was known for her legendary cream puffs.

Darlene is survived by three: daughters: Tammy Phillips (Dale) of Summitville, Debbie Giannone (Stefan) of Summitville, Carrie Hodory (Bob) of Salem; a very special niece: Donna Dangelo-Green (Terry) of East Rochester OH; Grandchildren: Tony, Rachel, Jimmy, Ellen and great grandchildren: Brody, Sutton, Rocco, Ben, Norah, Everly, Lainey.

In addition to her parents Darlene was preceded in death by her husband: James “Jim” F Dangelo whom she married on December 8, 1961 and who died October 7, 2021; a brother: Ed Dickey and a sister: Helen Dickey.

As was Darlene’s wishes no services have been planned.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Whispering pines and Harmony Hospice.

Family requests memorial donations be made to the Negley United Methodist Church or the Franklin Township Fire Department.
