NEGLEY — Marvin Lee McKenzie, 86, of Negley, passed away peacefully at home Friday afternoon, April 18, 2025. He was 86 years old.
Born in Calcutta, July 6, 1938, he was a son of the late Paul and Ruth Foy McKenzie. He was a graduate of East Liverpool High School where he played guitar in the band, a passion he continued throughout his life. Marvin spent his entire career serving in all aspects of law enforcement. Most of his over 30 years of work was spent as a deputy with the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Department. He also served as a patrolman with St. Clair Township and Lisbon Police Departments. He was proud of his contributions with the Columbiana County Drug Task Force and the Columbiana County Special Response Team. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police in Lisbon and often worked security at the Canfield Fair. In his pastime he enjoyed nature and the peacefulness of hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. At one time, he was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Lower McKenzie at home. The couple married August 15, 1992. There are two daughters, Tonya Su McKenzie and Lisa Ann McKenzie Heisner, as well as two grandchildren, Trent Jacob Miller and Brandon Westley Heisner (Danielle), and two great-grandchildren, Jace Hanlon and Scarlet Rose Heisner, along with a brother-in-law Jack Lower, Jr. (Sue), a sister-in-law Jane McKenzie, and three nieces, Angel Emmert, Faith Lower and April Lower and two nephews, Rajma McKenzie (Kim) and Ryan McKenzie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis McKenzie.
Friends may visit Wednesday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Pastor Jeff Pellin of the church will conduct a funeral service Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Calcutta Cemetery.
Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship.
