1951-2025

ROGERS, Ohio — James D. “Jim” Bowersock, of Rogers, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, April 22, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home on the farm. He was 74 years old.

Born in East Liverpool, April 4, 1951, he was a son of the late Clarence and Gladys Siddall Bowersock. A lifetime area resident, he was a member of the Beaver Local High School Class of 1969 where he wrestled, played football and ran track. Jim owned and operated West Point Masonry for many years and worked as a general contractor his entire life. His construction projects have left a permanent legacy all over the Tri-State area. He retired and became a full-time farmer where he raised beef cattle and planted his own crops. He was inducted into the Beaver Local Athletic Hall of Fame and was a member of the Tri-State Boot and Saddle Club where he spent many Wednesdays and weekends watching his kids’ barrel races. Watching and supporting his children’s sporting events was very important to him. He loved the outdoors, whether working the farm, hunting, playing golf, or spending peaceful times at his cabin in Pennsylvania. He was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He was a member of the Beaver Local Wrestling Club and was always there to support the school.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Piatt Bowersock, at home. There are three daughters, Bobbie Jo Bowersock of Chester, LeighAnn Bowersock of Carroll, Ohio, and Danielle Suiter of Salem. He also leaves his best friend and favorite pet dog Dexter.

In addition, there are four sisters, Judy Maola, Marjorie Strong, Sue Roberts, and Sherry Faulk; and three brothers, Dick, Bill, and Gary “Stump” Bowersock.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James M. “Jimmy” Bowersock, in 2017, along with his son-in-law, David Suiter, and two sisters, Norma Chettle and Yvonne Swearingen.
