Glenn Paul Bruderly
1933-2025
SALEM — Glenn Paul Bruderly, 92, of Salem passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 24, 1933, in Salem, the son of the late Ernest and Mary Doyle Bruderly. He married Theresa Marlene Mercure at St. Patrick Church in Leetonia, Ohio, on Dec. 30, 1961, with Reverend Warren Braun officiating. They lived 63 wonderful married years and raised their loving family together on West Pidgeon Road in Salem.
Mr. Bruderly was employed by Hunt Valve Company in Salem for 39 years and retired in February of 1995. As a youngster he worked with his father delivering milk for Andalusia Dairy with a horse and wagon. This job provided many nostalgic experiences of Salem’s past. He enjoyed remembering and telling amusing stories of how the horse would stop on his own in front of each customer’s house. Then Glenn and his dad would carry the dairy products into an unlocked house and place them in an ice box. The horse waited for their return and then continued on the route.
Glenn was a proud lifelong resident of Salem. He was educated at St. Paul School and Salem Senior High School. He continued his education during his years in the United States Army. Glenn served in the 4th Armored Tank Division at Fort Hood Texas where he was a tank driver.
Mr. Bruderly’s Catholic faith was an integral part of his life. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church where he was an altar boy, a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd degree, and lead usher at the 10:30 a.m. Mass for many years. He was a very generous man always willing to share his time, talents, and treasures with anyone in need. He did volunteer work for many different organizations. He was a member of the Salem Elks Lodge, Salem American Legion, the United Commercial Travelers of America, and the Salem Historical Society.
Glenn enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, horseback riding, gardening, and traveling the lower 48 states with his wife. He was an avid sports fan whether it be playing sports himself, coaching little league sports, or attending professional sporting events. He especially loved watching and cheering on his grandchildren at their different sports.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Theresa and two caring children, Dr. Thomas Bruderly (Dr. Valerie Taylor) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Michele Weingart (James) of Salem. He is also survived by his beloved four grandchildren, Attorney Jarrod Bruderly (fiancee Attorney Annelyse), Gwen Bruderly, Dr. Matthew Weingart (fiancee Dr. Maggie), and Luke Weingart. He truly enjoyed watching them grow up and become successful in their own lives.
Glenn was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Bruderly.
The family wishes to thank many people, especially Brookdale of Salem, Southern Care Hospice, and Kerry Englert for their exceptional care and compassion for Glenn.
