Donald L. Oberholtzer

1934-2025
COLUMBIANA — Donald L. Oberholtzer, age 90, died on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Briarfield Place in Boardman.
Donald was born on December 19, 1934, in New Waterford, son of the late Charles Edward Oberholtzer and Helen Black Oberholtzer Kiehl.
He graduated from Columbiana High School in 1955 and was inducted into the CHS Hall of Fame in 2011 in recognition of his four-year varsity achievements in high school football, which was his favorite sport.
Don was employed by the Columbiana Foundry for 43 years prior to his retirement in 1988. He was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church.
He was an antique gas engine enthusiast and was well known for his reproduction of gasoline engine parts and restoring antique gasoline engines. He also enjoyed golf and model airplanes aviation.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Jo Hanna Oberholtzer, whom he married in 1956; his daughter, Kimberly Kay (Jay) Bland of Columbiana; grandson, Drew Bland of Pittsburgh, PA. his sister, Sandra (Thomas) Davis of Columbiana, his brother, Rev. Dr. Darryl Kiehl of Pell City, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kyle Shawn Oberholtzer and a brother, Robert Oberholtzer.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana, with Pastor Karin Himstedt officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Saturday until time of services at 12 noon.
