Wayne C. Wilson

1937-2025

COLUMBIANA– Wayne C. Wilson, 87, of Columbiana, passed away Sunday evening, Feb. 23, 2025, at Communicare Health Center in Salem.

Mr. Wilson was born on June 29, 1937, in Youngstown, a son of Benjamin Franklin and Eleanor (May) Wilson. He graduated from David Anderson High School in Lisbon in 1955. Wayne was a proud military veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy for four years, the U.S. Coast Guard for four years, and the Air Force Reserves for three years. He was a member of First Christian Church and retired from NRM in Columbiana where he was a machinist for many years. He enjoyed lifting weights and taking walks. He owned four airplanes, which he liked tinkering with. Growing up in a musical household, Wayne was a proficient classic guitarist and also enjoyed playing the ukulele.

Wayne leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife of 43 years, the former Kathleen Wynings, whom he married July 24, 1982; four daughters, Debbie (Lee) Lipply of Columbiana, Tracy (Ron) Johnson of Lisbon, Kelly (George) Marple of Greensboro, N.C., and Wendy K. Sigle of London, England; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother Rod (Sue) Wilson of Salem.

He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Victoria Lipply, brother Todd Wilson and sisters Arlene Sinclair and Kathleen Strong.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church, 39 Cherry St., Columbiana with Pastor Drew Bromm officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Interment will follow at Columbiana Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 290 of Columbiana.
