Lloyd R. Schooley

1933-2025

EAST PALESTINE — Lloyd R. Schooley, 91, of East Palestine, died on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, at Mercy Health St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman.

He was born on April 30, 1933, in Canfield, the son of the late Russell L. and Bessie Estella Coy Schooley. His mother passed away of scarlet fever when he was 3-and-a-half years old.

Lloyd graduated from Fairfield High School in 1953. After graduation, he briefly worked at Youngstown Garage. In 1956, he began his career working as a postal worker in Canfield. He also delivered paper bundles for the Youngstown Vindicator to Western Pennsylvania, one day a week, for 52 years. After working for three years in North Bloomfield, Lloyd retired from the Post Office in 1990 with a total of 34 years.

Following his retirement, Lloyd enjoyed traveling to Florida to visit with family, reading, and learning new computer skills.

He was a former member of Canfield Christian Church, and he was also involved with the East Palestine First Church of Christ. Lloyd was a member of Western Star Lodge #21, F&AM in Boardman, and of East Palestine Lodge #417. He was also a member of the Order of Oddfellows Lodge #155.

Lloyd felt that he was blessed with his family and had many precious memories of them. He is survived by many beloved cousins.

According to his wishes, no services will be held.

Lloyd will be laid to rest at Glenview Cemetery in East Palestine.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home in Columbiana.
