Patricia A. Kithas, wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Feb. 3, 2025 in East Liverpool, a place she called home throughout her life.
Patricia was the daughter of the late Calvert and Hazel (Cline) Bryan. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Adrian A. Kithas, and her brother, Leonard Bryan.
During her high school and college years, Patricia worked in her parents' ice cream shop, Bryan's Ice Cream Store, which was located at the current site of Bruster's Ice Cream.
Patricia graduated from Bowling Green State University and took a teaching job in River Rouge, Michigan. While there, she met her husband, Adrian. They later moved back to East Liverpool where Pat accepted a teaching position within East Liverpool City School District.
Together with her husband, she owned and operated Adrian's Restaurant in Calcutta where they created a welcoming space for their community to gather in fellowship while enjoying good food. In the early days of the restaurant, after a full day of teaching, Patricia could be found answering the phones at the restaurant for carryout orders or working off-premise catering events.
Patricia dedicated much of her life to nurturing the creative young minds in her community. From 1963-1991, she worked as an art teacher at East Liverpool High School. Her passion for the Arts extended beyond the classroom as she found joy in painting and drawing and was known for her beautiful pencil sketches of area churches, homes, and landmarks. Her love for creativity was matched only by her appreciation for nature which was expressed through her gardening. She took pride in planting and tending to the flowers outside of Adrian's and at her home in the spring and summer. She enjoyed walks in Thompson Park and Beaver Creek State Park. During her weekly "Grandma Day," she would take her grandchildren to the park or to the garden to share her love of nature with them.
Among her many hobbies, Patricia enjoyed golfing with friends and family and was an avid reader. Her greatest joy came from doting on her grandchildren with whom she shared countless cherished memories.
Patricia is survived by her loving children: sons Andrew J. Kithas and his wife Betsy (Russell) of East Liverpool, Joseph A. Kithas and his wife Phoebe (Kuo) of Nevada; daughters Kimberly K. Cowdery and her husband Larry of Long Bottom, Ohio, and Carol C. Kithas and her fiancee Jim Grim of Salem. She also leaves behind her brother Jack Bryan and his wife Judy of Columbiana. Her grandchildren, Kyle A. Kithas, Lauren E. Kithas, Tyler A. Kithas and his girlfriend Tricia Panos, Michelle Kuo-Jackson, and Matthew Kuo-Jackson as well as several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Patricia Moisan, will continue to cherish her memory.
The family will be present at the Columbiana County Memorial Park Chapel from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, prior to the private service that has been entrusted to the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral and Cremation Specialists with Pastor David Quillen officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made via carechapel.com to the Friends of Beaver Creek State Park and Thompson Park, ensuring Patricia's love for nature continues to inspire and support the community she held dear.
The family would like to extend their eternal gratitude to the individuals at the Peachtree Inn, Pepperberry Suites, and East Liverpool City Hospital Emergency Department who provided care to Patricia and provided her comfort in her time of need.
Patricia will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
