COLUMBIANA -- Margaret "Peg" Elser Kirk, 81, of Columbiana, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, at Covington Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, East Palestine.
She was born on March 31, 1943, in Salem, Ohio, daughter of the late Louise Wilson Blagg.
Peg was a 1961 graduate of East Palestine High School. She furthered her studies and graduated from the Hannah Mullins School of Nursing and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Dr. Elliott and later at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center. Peg also taught preschool in East Palestine. She and was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in East Palestine, and most recently attended Zion Lutheran Church in New Waterford.
Margaret is survived by her two daughters, Lynn (Daniel) Hill of Leetonia, and Lana (Richard) Ferris of East Palestine; five grandchildren, Corey (Abby) Hill, Carter (Courtney) Hill, Caleb (Sydnie) Hill, Jake (Sydney) Ferris, and Emily Ferris. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, Carsen, Nolan, Kinsley, Wesley, and Grayson Hill.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carlyle Elser, whom she married on May 3, 1964; her second husband, Fredrick Kirk, whom she married on May 16, 2001, and by her stepfather, Everett Dickens.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday, at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.
Services will be held on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating.
Burial will take place at Glenview Cemetery, East Palestine.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Frederick, 6996 Millrock Rd., Rogers, OH 44455.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.
