He was a graduate of Leetonia High School in 1946 and received his Bachelor of Education and Master in Guidance at Youngstown State University. He was an active member in the Leetonia Methodist Church before moving to Arizona. In Arizona, he joined and became active in the Sun Lakes Baptist Church, in Sun Lakes, Arizona. He is also survived by one brother, Harry Kornbau of West Middlesex, Pennsylvania: his nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Louella Kornbau; two brothers, Edgar and Albert Kornbau; and a sister, Dorothy Carlisle.
Our father was a man of faith. He had strong values. He chose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service. He was never afraid of taking on new challenges and did everything with honesty and integrity. He had incredible patience and always made time to help others. He enjoyed working with Habitat for Humanity for many years in Ohio. He was well liked by everyone he met. He had an uncanny ability to be able to talk to anyone he met.
Robert lived his life to the fullest. He loved to travel, and he and our mother traveled to many places around the world.
His family was his pride and joy. He loved spending time with family and friends. His legacy will be the love he had for his family and the many memories that will live on in their hearts and minds. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him.
Memorial services will be held at a later date and interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery. If desired, contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 1965 N. Ellsworth Ave., Salem, OH 44460. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia, Ohio. Sign the register and send condolences at www.familycareservices.com.
