Robert Norman Souders, 68, of Jefferson, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 14, 2024 due to a very brief battle with cancer.
Robert was born on Jan. 26, 1956 to William and Patsy Souders in Salem, Ohio.
Robert's zest for life could be felt by anyone he came in contact with. Robert was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Whether hiking through forests and mountains, casting a line into quiet lakes, or tracking animals in the slopes of Alaska, Robert felt most alive when surrounded by nature. Hunting was not just a hobby but a cherished connection to the wilderness he revered and something he shared with and passed down to his son. He approached each adventure with respect for the land and an appreciation for the beauty of creation.
Those who knew Robert will remember his unfailing positivity and his ability to find joy in the simplest things. Whether it was chasing a ram over the California Peak in Colorado, watching the glow of a sunset, laughing and playing with his grandchildren, enjoying a glass of wine and a cup of coffee, or the quiet stillness of a morning in the woods, he savored life's little gifts. No challenge could dampen his spirit, and his resilience inspired everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Robert was preceded in death by his brother, James Souders. He is survived by his parents William and Patsy; a daughter, Summer (who he affectionately called Doll) and her husband Eric Gordon; a son, Erik (who he affectionately called Scoob) and his wife Tia Souders; six grandchildren, Wyatt, Emersyn, and Stella Gordon, and Eli, Scarlet(t), and Rae; three brothers, George (Diane), Mark, and Patrick (Ruth); a sister, Laurie Hardenbrook; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and a long list of close friends he called family.
A memorial service with Pastor Frank Larkins will be held on Dec. 21, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Franklin Square Community Church for family and close friends, with lunch to follow. A celebration of life, along with dinner, will also be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in East Palestine for family and all of Robert's many friends.
