Erma Eaton

1940-2024

SALEM — Erma Eaton, 84, died Nov. 15 at her home in Salem. She was born Sept. 10, 1940 to parents Alfred and Ruth (Aeppli) Eaton in New Middletown, Ohio.

She graduated from Salineville High School in 1958 after moving to Millport, Ohio. In 1969 the family moved to Salem where she joined the Art Guild and became one of Salem’s well known artists. Erma painted scratch board, water color and barn pictures were her favorite.

For a time, she taught art classes in her home and had paintings shown at Butler Art Institute in Youngstown. In recent years as an active member of Salem Presbyterian Church, Erma enjoyed painting birthday cards for members reaching 90 years old.

Erma is survived by a sister, Ardeth Eaton Conkle, Columbiana and a brother, John I. Eaton, Greenville, S.C. and many nieces and nephews. A brother, Lester B. Eaton, preceded her in death March 2015.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery in New Middletown, Ohio at a later date.
