‘Butch’ Harold D. Gatrell Jr.

LISBON, Ohio – “Butch” Harold D. Gatrell Jr., 74, of Lisbon passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024, at his home.

Butch was born Feb. 21, 1950, in East Liverpool a son of the late Harold and Pauline (Higgins) Gatrell.

Butch was a graduate of East Liverpool High School Class of 1968. He retired from the GM Plant in Lordstown in 2000. He enjoyed golfing and bowling. Butch was an avid Ohio State, NASCAR and Steelers fan. He also enjoyed horse racing. Butch was a member of VFW Post 4111 in Lisbon. He spent many years racing pigeons and was a member of the River Pigeon Racing Combine and East Liverpool Pigeon Club.

Preceding Butch in death were his brother Donnie Gatrell, sister Sheryl Shearer and nephew James Exline.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, whom he married Aug. 7, 1976, Georgeann (James) Gatrell; son Jeff Gatrell and his wife Julie; two grandchildren Kristen and Kyle Gatrell; three brothers, Ronald Gatrell, Tom Gatrell and John Gatrell and his companion Beth; sister Linda Cascioli; three sisters-in-law, Lauretta Sok and her husband Tom, Judith James and Shirley James; several nieces and nephews, including special niece Olivia Exline and his dogs Ziva, Tony and Ella.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Dawson Funeral Home.
