Barbara Cope

1935-2024

EAST PALESTINE ­– Barbara Cope, 88, passed away October 16, 2024, at the Greenbrier Healthcare Center following a lengthy illness.

Barbara was born in Center Township, PA on December 16, 1935, daughter of the late Harold Haller and Olive (Collins) Haller.

Having lived all her life in the area, Barbara was a graduate of Darlington High School Class of 1956, was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and their Ladies Aid Society. She worked for many years as a packer at Kingwood Ceramics and also decorated cakes from her home. She was well known for her scratch-made Red Velvet Cakes which she supplied to Neil’s Restaurant. She was a member of the East Palestine Garden Club, was a regular in the local bingo circuit. Barbara enjoyed crocheting and puzzles and loved spending her days feeding and interacting with the birds.

Barbara is survived by her loving children, a son, Randy (Candy) Cope of East Palestine; three daughters, Colleen Cox of East Liverpool, Tina Paquette (Ron Knight) of Wellsville and Tracy Kissinger of East Palestine; seven grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Earl Cope whom she married May 12, 1956, and who died December 31, 2020, and three sisters, Shirley Birnesser, Magdalen Ford and Patty Patton; two sons-in-laws, Kenneth Kissinger, Jr. and Tom Cox.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday November 9, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in East Palestine. A private burial will follow at St Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
