Robert Lee Crowl

1942-2024
EAST PALESTINE — Robert Lee Crowl, 82, of East Palestine, passed away after a long battle with COPD on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, at Hospice House in Poland.
He was born on March 17, 1942, in Salem, a son of the late Robert and Vivian Sutherin Crowl.
Robert had worked as a carbon mine train engineer prior to retiring from East Palestine Schools where he had worked as a custodian. He also owned and maintained several rental properties. Robert was an avid Steelers fan who enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, playing cards and both camping and vacationing with friends. He liked attending antique car shows and was very proud of his 1954 Chevrolet. Robert had a soft spot for animals, having owned several dogs and cats, and really enjoyed watching the deer from his kitchen window. Mostly, Robert was a family man. He loved spending time with his wife and daughter, and he absolutely adored his granddaughter Addison. He rarely missed one of her dance recitals and looked forward to attending her school and extracurricular activities. Robert will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Janice Rae Flickinger Crowl, whom he married on July 6, 1962; daughter, Dr. Lori Crowl of Salem; sister, Cheryl (Harry) Stacey of East Palestine; brother, Jerry (Linda) Crowl of East Palestine, and his granddaughter, Addison Fisher of Salem.
Robert was preceded in death by brother, Joseph “Joe” Crowl.
