David K. Bernhardt, 63, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully after a long illness at Haven Hospice Center, Florida, accompanied by one of his dear friends Helen Palmer on Friday, July 26, 2024.
He served in the US Navy for over six years and was a retired truck driver. David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, making people laugh, having cookouts and fishing.
He is survived by his brothers Robert M. Jr., William E., Bret O., and Donald G. Bernhardt; his aunt Shirley Mowery; his sister-in-law Karen A. Bernhardt; favorite niece Hope Bernhardt; other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, all from Lorain; and his stepdaughters Christina Elkins and Kelly Price, his stepgrandchildren and his beloved dog Nikki, all of Jacksonville.
David was preceded in death by his parents Olga and Robert Bernhardt; sister Deborah A. Jezierski, brothers Steven A. and Warren D. Bernhardt, nephew Dennis G. Bernhardt, and niece Stephani Bernhardt.
There will be a service with Military Honors by the Amvets Post 32 of Elyria at Ridge Hill Memorial Park 44805 North Ridge Road, Amherst, OH 44001, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, 2024.
