Rev. Lyn D. Black

1955-2024

Rev. Lyn D. Black, nee Marilyn D. Gorby, 69, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024, in Clermont, Florida.

She was born on May 25, 1955 in Negley, Ohio, granddaughter of Steve Gorby of Gorby Lake. She spent most of her adult life in Manassas, Virginia and Clermont, Florida and was a 1973 graduate of East Palestine High School. She married Ken Black on April 20, 1974, in New Springfield, Ohio.

Early on, Lyn enjoyed dog grooming, and later took a deep dive into religious studies, including maintaining a website with over 20,000 followers. Lyn's other interests included artwork, music, and she was an avid gardener.

Lyn had a lifelong goal to prevent child abuse and help other adult survivors of child abuse, since the days of it being kept a family secret.

She is survived by her husband, Ken, and a daughter, Crystal.

Lyn supported no-kill animal shelters and anyone who wishes to reminisce and honor the life of Lyn are encouraged to donate to their local facility in her memory.
