Mary Ann Hawkins

1932-2024

Mary Ann Hawkins, 92, of New Waterford, Ohio, passed from this life on June 5, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Feb. 1, 1932 to her parents Peter and Helen Palewicz Casper.

At the age of 6, Mary Ann moved to New Waterford. She was a graduate of Fairfield Centralized School. In 1951, Mary Ann married her beloved husband, Ellis Hawkins, at Our Lady of Lourdes in East Palestine, Ohio. She was a homemaker and mother to four wonderful children who were the love of her life: Terri (Bob) Ruggiero, Greg (Joann) Hawkins, Mitch (Fredda) Hawkins, and Amy (Mark) Harrold. Mary Ann enjoyed her grandchildren whom she dearly loved, and maybe spoiled a little. She was Gram to: Michael (Jen) Bartholow, Eric (Jessica) Bartholow, Ashley (Ross) Davis, Andrew (Crissty) Hawkins, Lindsey (Dave) Richards, Samantha (Zac) Czopur, Abbigail Hawkins, Adam (Lauren) Harrold, Matthew (Cally) Harrold, Lauren (fiance Jamil Abdo), and several great-grandchildren: Ryan, Emmalyn and Elliana Bartholow, Sebastian, Baron and Sloane Davis.

Mary Ann was predeceased by her husband Ellis. She is survived by her brother Peter Casper and his wife Janet who was more like a sister than a sister-in-law. She is also survived by her children, grandchildren, many nephews and nieces and some dear friends.

Those who knew Mary Ann had known her love of flowers and having wonderful gatherings. She and Ellis enjoyed many wonderful adventures together as they loved traveling, and especially cruising. Mary Ann prided herself in that her greatest achievement in life was her family and her friends of many years, who she was always there for when they needed help and encouragement. Her family was her source of joy.

Mary Ann was a member of St. Jude Church in Columbiana, Ohio, where a celebration of life service will be held on June 25 at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Mary Ann has requested that in lieu of flowers, to please donate to the Rescue Mission of Youngstown.

The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Zeno, the Mercy Health Congestive Heart Failure Clinic, and everyone that helped Mary Ann at the end of her life. Final arrangements were made by Borowski Funeral Services.
