Joel Needham
1950-2024
Joel Craig Needham, 73, of Hanoverton died at the Salem Regional Medical Center following a lenthy illness.
Joel was born in East Liverpool on July 2, 1950 a son of the late John P. Needham and Jean (Kennedy) Needham.
Having lived his entire life in the area Joel was a graduate of Salineville High School class of 1968 and worked as a laborer for Coronado Steel for 15 years, retiring in 2022.
He was an avid coon hunter, rabbit hunter, a fisherman and an all around mountain man. He was hardworking and devoted to his family. He never stopped doting on his family and most importantly his grandkids, by which he was called the best Pap in the world. He was also the chief tormentor of the family. Joel loved to play jokes and keep his family on their toes. He was also the self proclaimed "Man of Steel' nothing could hurt him.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife: Cathy (Myers) Needham whom he married May 25, 1991; four daughters: Trevor Needham of Salineville, Tori Needham of Salineville, Ashley (Adam) Ping of Cincinnati; two sons: Cory (Missy) Thomas of Hanoverton, Justin (Jenna) Allender; a brother: Jan Needham of Guilford Lake; four sisters: Jennifer (David) Leffler of Salineville, Jackie Weston of Salineville, Jill French of Salineville, Jeanette (Randy) Catlett of Salineville; Grandsons: Austin, Gavin, Hunter, Jensen, Owen, Ethan, Ezra, Maverick; Granddaughters: Sydney (the love of his life), Ella, Alivia, Chloe, Emma, Kylie, Eliza and Great Grandchildren: Bryton, Leo, Max, and Rowan"Little Joel."
In addition to his parents Joel was preceded in death by a daughter:Tonya Needham, five brothers: James Needham, Jon Needham, Jefferey Needham, Jerry Needham and Jody "Kim' Needham and sister: Jeanne "Kay" Needham Joanne Blosser.
Services will be held on Wednesday June 26, 2024 at 1p.m. with life celebreant Matthew Watson officiating. The family will be present to recieve friends at the funeral home 2 hours prior to the service from 11am-1pm
