Thomas Alan Schneider, 58, died peacefully at Hartville Meadows on Monday, May 28, 2024 in Hartville, Ohio following an extended illness with Alzheimer's.
He was born on Nov. 18, 1965 in Kansas City, Missouri, the 8th child of the late Gerald L. and Betty C. Schneider and was preceded in death by his oldest brother Gerald L. Schneider, Jr. (Gerry).
A Canton resident since 1969, Tom graduated from Stark County's Board of Developmental Disabilities Southgate School and was a member of the --Rainbow Class' at Trinity United Church of Christ in his younger years. Most recently, Tom was a member of the Theophilus Bible Church in Louisville, Ohio. He worked at Malone University, The Waterford Club, Rubbermaid, Marc's in Hartville, and TWi at Just Imagine Gift Gallery as a resident artist. He performed with the Sounds of Silence Signing Choir for 17 years and performed at the White House for The President and First Lady while he was a member of Sounds of Silence. Throughout his adult years Tom received community support services from Siffrin Inc. and became fast friends with his caseworkers, Dale Richards and Lucas Hill from TWi. Most people will remember Tom for his love of Jesus, his superheroes, Elvis, John Denver, his artwork, his self-confidence, and sense of humor. Tom also enjoyed working out at Concorde Therapy, listening to Christian music, trips to Las Vegas and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his six siblings, Terri (Peter) Bate, Tim (Pat) Schneider, Jeff Schneider, Rita (Sandra Beichler) Schneider, Ed (Cindy) Schneider, and John Schneider. He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews, Eric (Angela) Schneider, Matt (Shawna) Schneider, Marissa (Ben) Clutter, Chris (Kelly) Bate, Pedar Ben (Meredith Lark) Bate, Stacey (Dan) Janosik, Nick (Rachel) Schneider, Craig (Shantelle) Hoopes, Tony Schneider and Trina Schneider. In addition, he leaves behind numerous great-nieces and nephews and close friends of the family, Maria Schneider and Debra Berbelis.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at The Meadows in Hartville for their caring, compassionate and loving care. Also, the family thanks Crossroads Hospice for Tom's --Gift of a Day and end of life care.
Calling Hours will be from 10 to 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Reed Funeral Home - North Canton Chapel, with funeral services following at noon. Tom will be laid to rest in Warstler Cemetery.
