COLUMBIANA -- Lucille Fitzsimons, 99, of Columbiana, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Poland Village Assisted Living, Poland.
She was born on June 28, 1924, in Columbiana, a daughter of the late Ralph and Bernice Sailors Yeager.
Lucille had worked as a bookkeeper for the former New Waterford Bank. She was a member of the former New Waterford Presbyterian Church where she was past president of the Women's Association and had taught Sunday School. She was currently a member of the East Fairfield United Methodist Church. Lucille had been a member and past president of the Columbiana County Homemakers Group. She was treasurer of the Clarkson Cemetery Board and a member of the East Palestine Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, the Columbiana Doll Club and Meals on Wheels. She was a charter member of Crestview Church's Community Concerns (4C's) and was honored as the Columbiana County Homemaker of the Year. Lucille loved flowers and enjoyed working in her flower gardens at her home in New Waterford.
Her husband, Ralph Charles Fitzsimons, whom she married on June 22, 1946, preceded her in death Jan. 13, 2015.
Lucille is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn (William J.) McQuiston of North East, Maryland, Ann Fitzsimons of Columbiana; a brother, Stanley E. Yeager of Jamestown, N.C.; two grandsons, Sean (Erica) McQuiston of Bel Air, Maryland, and KC McQuiston of Easton, Maryland; granddaughter, Georgianne (Mark Franzkowski) Davis of Abingdon, Maryland, and a great-granddaughter, Hannah McQuiston.
She was preceded in death by son David Lee Fitzsimons.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the East Fairfield United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at the church at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dr. Stephen Cramer and Rev. Lisa Courtwright officiating.
Burial will take place at Clarkson Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the East Fairfield United Methodist Church, 45675 state Route 558, New Waterford, Ohio 44445.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.
