EAST PALESTINE -- Lois Ann Gaydos passed away peacefully on Feb. 29, 2024, at Parkside Health Center in Columbiana at the age of 83, after bravely battling Alzheimer's disease.
Lois was born on July 15, 1940, the daughter of the late George W. Montgomery and Dorothy R. (Kraus) Montgomery. Lois spent her early years in East Palestine, Ohio before marrying her husband of 40 years, Thomas E. Gaydos, and moving to Youngstown then later moved to New Middletown, Ohio to be closer to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Lois was a proud graduate of East Palestine High School in 1958. She cherished the memories of her school days and enjoyed getting together with classmates. Lois found joy in her work, first as a custodian at Unity Elementary School, where she was loved by everyone. She later served as a secretary at Nulfco in East Palestine and worked at Hallmark stocking greeting cards. Lois's love for travel took her to Florida and on cruises with her beloved husband, Thomas.
Lois will be deeply missed by her husband, Thomas E. Gaydos; her children Karen (Gary) Lewis, Christine (Joseph) Ferris, and Eric (LeighAnn) Jones, all of East Palestine, and her stepchildren Debbie (Ernie) Guido of Shady Shores, Texas, and Dale Gaydos of Canfield. She is also survived by her brother George (Karen) Montgomery, her cherished grandchildren Rebecca (Jack) Eaton, Sara (Matt) Robinson, Marcy (Brad) Lansberry, Emily Casto, Eric Jones, Evan Jones, Jamilynn Jones, Julianne Jones, and Anthony "Tony" Ferris, as well as her six great-grandchildren: Landon, Luke, Penny, Claire, Harper, and Holden.
Lois will forever be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and the love she shared with her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Robert Helbeck officiating. Interment will follow at the Glenview Cemetery in East Palestine.
