NEGLEY -- Joyce E. Pethtel, 77, passed away March 18, 2024, at East Liverpool City Hospital.
Joyce was born May 26, 1946, on the family farm in Negley, Ohio, daughter of the late Wilbur and Florence McCoy Gorby.
She was a lifelong resident of Negley and was a member of the Lake Mount Church of Christ in Rogers. Joyce was a farmer, and a dedicated mother. She enjoyed mowing grass and spending time with her family.
Joyce is survived by three daughters, Bobbie Huston of Negley, Barb (Carl Tullis) Pethtel of Leetonia, Carol (Jim) McCowin of Salem; two sons, David (Denise) Pethtel and John (Nancy) Pethtel, both of Negley; a brother, Sam (Pam) Gorby of Negley; 10 grandchildren, Josalyn, Jacob, Rylie, Rick, JR, David III, Wesley, Jesse, Zach and Ryan; 20 great-grandchildren including Paetyn, Braelyn, Zoey, Addy and Jameson and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as her two dogs, Maggie and Gracie.
She was preceded in death by her husband David Pethtel in 2012; a son-in-law, James Huston; great-grandson, Colton Huston; four brothers, Kenny, Chuck, Alvin and Dale Gorby; and two sisters, Evelyn Todd and Nancy Whitacre.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the Lake Mount Church of Christ in Rogers with Tim Postle officiating. The family will receive friends prior to service from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. A private burial will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens.
