Wilma June Hillyer

1932-2024

Wilma J. Hillyer, age 91, of Kensington passed away on Friday February 02, 2024 at the Cleveland Clinic with her loving family by her side. She was born on June 02, 1932 to the late Frederick and Laura Newman. She was Methodist by faith. She married the love of her life Bennie P. Hillyer Sr. on November 06, 1947 and they celebrated 67 years of bliss together. He passed away on May 06, 2015. Wilma and Bennie owned and operated the Kensington I.G.A. Store. She enjoyed traveling and her flowers. Her family was her passion in life she felt so blessed being part of five generations.

Survivors include her children Linda Reeder of Alliance, Cindy (Tom) Bortner of Columbiana, Donna Wood of Warren and Bennie Hillyer of Salem. Two brothers Richard and Donald Newman. Eleven grand children. Ten great grand children and one great great grand son.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Bennie. Her parents and seven brothers and two sisters.

Calling hours will be this Wednesday February, 07 from 4 to7 P.M. at the New Alexander Christian Church. The funeral will be on Thursday February, 08 at 11:00 a.m. at the church with the burial in Grove Hill Cemetery.
