Theodore "Ted" Olenick Jr. of New Waterford, Ohio, passed away Feb. 11, 2024 in Boardman, Ohio, following health complications.
Ted was born in Scranton, Pa., on June 3, 1950, the son of the late Theodore Olenick Sr. and Helen (Wassalinko) Olenick.
Having lived most of his life in the area, Ted worked as an journeyman/electrical lineman for 47 years out of Local 1319 Wilkes- Barre, Pa. Ted drag raced at the Quaker City Motorsports Park in Salem. He enjoyed watching Nascar and NBA basketball and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Most of all Ted loved listening to the blues. He was a faithful member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana.
Ted is survived by his wife Mary Lou (Colella) Olenick whom he married July 9, 1981; a daughter, Teodora Marie Beachler (Jason) of Springfield, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Christine Wilson (Brad) of East Palestine; a stepson, Richard Spratt (Traci) of East Palestine; a sister, Andrea Russick of Taylor, Pa.; seven grandchildren: Jason (LJ), Reagan, Claire, Erica, Drew, Jaret, Justin and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at St Jude Catholic Parish (180 7th St., Columbiana, OH 44408) on Friday, Feb. 16, 2024 at noon. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
The family will be present to receive friends at the church two hours prior to the service from 10 a.m. to noon.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Catholic Church.
