The Lisbon community has lost a light. Our friend, Kumi Lang, has passed into God's loving arms and is resting in His perfect peace.
Kumi led an intensely private life and not much is known about her life before she settled in Lisbon and made it her longtime home. Those of us who were honored to have her joyful spirit bless our lives fondly recall how much she enjoyed singing in many of our churches and with the Village Singers. She happily played the organ at St. George Church after Mass and livened up the hymns with her efforts with the tambourine.
She had a soft spot for children and her face would light up as she greeted them at church and tried to make them laugh. The kids always recognized her youthful aura and responded in kind.
She enjoyed taking part in church and community dinners and always insisted on doing her part to share in the work.
Kumi was a person who relished being outdoors and was regularly seen riding her bicycle all over the area in all seasons and weather.
She serve our community as a gardener and a painter. She took a lot of pride in offering her assistance to tidy up the homes and churches she was a part of.
Kumi was pleasantly direct and she liked to organize and help to get things done. We are sure as she greets us in Heaven, she will insist on having us hum a few bars and she will then place us in the appropriate section of the Heavenly choir.
Please join us for a memorial service to commemorate her life at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16 at St. George Church, Chestnut St., Lisbon. Please feel free to share your remembrances of Kumi.
