Virginia A. Thompson

1938-2024

EAST PALESTINE ­–Virginia A. Thompson, 85, passed away January 6, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospice in Beaver Valley Medical Center.

Virginia was born April 16, 1938, in Weirton, WV, daughter of the late John and Anna Skrabut Beck.

She has resided in Beaver Falls the past five years but was previously a longtime resident of East Palestine. She was employed for 20 years as a salesclerk for Vittle Village in Unity prior to her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren as well as crocheting and reading.

Virginia is survived by four children, Mary Ann (Pete) Melnyk of Freedom, PA, David (Jacqueline) Thompson of Hardeeville, SC, Brian (Amber) Thompson of Bensalem, PA and Traci (Rich) Spratt of East Palestine as well as two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Thompson and Thelma Pillar; thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, David Thompson in 2002, a granddaughter, Janelle Melynk, a brother, Andrew Beck, and a sister, Delores Rusenko.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday January 10, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 11:00-12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford.
