Donis J. Duncan

EAST PALESTINE — Donis J. Duncan, 93, passed away Jan. 2, 2024, at the Salem Regional Medical Center.

Donis was born June 25, 1930, in East Palestine, daughter of the late Harry and Harriet Patterson Barnhouse.

She was a lifelong resident of East Palestine and was a graduate of East Palestine High School. Donis was a faithful member of the First Church of Christ in East Palestine. She worked as a secretary for her family’s business, Duncan Brothers Drilling, for many dedicated years prior to her retirement. Donis will most be remembered for her love of family and travel. She also enjoyed woodworking and painting.

Donis is survived by two sons, Philip (JoAnn) Duncan of Manor, Texas, Mark (Heather) Duncan of East Palestine; a daughter, Wendy (Rod) Kasler of Mt. Pleasant, Ohio; three sisters-in-law, Kathy Duncan, Carol Walters and Melanie Hirt, as well as six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Reed Duncan, in 2017 and a sister, Virginia Perrin.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the First Church of Christ in East Palestine with Robert Helbeck officiating. A private entombment will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens in New Waterford.
