Alta Orsburn

Alta Orsburn, 94, died Dec. 30, 2023, at Mulberry Gardens Memory Care in Munroe Falls, Ohio.

Alta was born on July 20, 1929, in Columbiana County, Ohio, to Harold Austin and Esperance Elizabeth (Naragon) Raley and grew up on the Raley farm outside of Hanoverton. She graduated from Augusta High School in 1946. Alta married Jack David Orsburn and they settled first in Alliance and later in Kent, Ohio, where Alta remained for 56 years. Alta and Jack were married 28 years and had four children.

In Kent, Alta worked at City Bank and stayed with them through acquisitions and mergers. At the time of her retirement, she held the position of Documentation Specialist for the commercial loans department of Society Bank-Kent and had been called on to help set up loan documentation procedures in several Northeast Ohio branches.

In retirement, Alta enjoyed reading, gardening, watching her backyard bird feeders, and occasional travel with her children.

Alta is survived by daughters Colleen Orsburn (Gary Ruble) of Stow, Ohio, and Vicki Culler (Jim) of Milford, Ohio, and by grandchildren Susan Way, Mylo Way (Ranwa Hammamy), Christopher Buchanan (Blaire), and Jeffrey Buchanan (Lucia). Her great-grandchildren are Spencer Wood; Riley, Amelia, Abel, Theodore, Auden, Corinne, and Ames Buchanan; and Noor Hammamy-Way. She was preceded in death by her son Bret Orsburn, daughter Linda Way, and brothers Earl and Dean Raley.

Though quick to leave Hanoverton as a young woman, Alta always considered it her home. She will be buried there. There will be no services.
