Sara Lou Pitts

Sara Lou Pitts, 85, of Shallotte, N.C., formerly of Kensington, Ohio, passed away Dec. 20, 2023 after battling a short illness.

She was preceded in death by husband Jack D. Pitts (1936-2015), son Alan W. Ratliff (1958-2017) and three brothers..

Surviving she leaves behind a daughter, Bonnie L. Mckarns of Shallotte, N.C.; son Jack D. Pitts, wife Shannon, of Auburndale, Fla.; son Roger L. Pitts of Lakeland, Fla.; grandchildren Chad E. Ratliff, Aaron M. Laney, Brandon Pitts and wife Leslie, Jessica L. (Pitts) Marse and husband Bobbie; great-grandchildren Chad Ratliff Jr. and wife Samantha, Rebecca Ratliff, Braylee Pitts and Ethan Marse; and great-great-grandchild Layla, in addition to five brothers and four sisters.

Sara owned and managed Aunt Mabel’s Restaurant in East Rochester, Ohio, she moved to Florida and became a real estate agent. Sara was very successful at both.

She later moved to North Carolina to retire. Sara enjoyed sewing, quilting , bingo and flower gardening.

Calling hours will be Saturday, Dec. 23, from 10 a.m. until noon, laid to rest shortly after at Bethesda Cemetery.
