Kathleen Linn Steele

1959-2023

Kathleen Linn Steele, beloved wife, mother, and friend, peacefully passed away at her residence on November 25, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Kathleen lived a life filled with love, kindness, and dedication to those she held dear. She was a woman of great strength and resilience, always putting her family and others before herself. She was a beacon of support for all who knew her, radiating love and warmth that will be deeply missed.

Kathleen was 64 years old at the time of her passing. Kathleen was born on September 10, 1959, in Steubenville, Ohio, the daughter of the late James Yocum and Myrna Cieslewski Yocum. She was born and raised in a loving family where she learned the importance of family values and the joy of simple living. She carried these lessons with her throughout her life, and they were evident in her dedication to her own family

Kathleen received her Associates degree and held the position of Medical Assistant for several local offices over her lifetime but found her most fulfillment in caring for her home and her beloved family. Kathleen’s warm and nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate household, as she actively participated in East Liverpool First Church of the Nazarene and the YMCA.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her surviving family and friends. Her husband, Robert Steele, whom she met in 1984 stood by her side through thick and thin; her children: Nichalous (Kim Koenig) Steele, of Rochester, Pa., Luke Steele, of Lisbon, Ohio and Audrey (Keoki) Rapoza,of Chugiak, AK were the lights of her life. She made it her life’s mission to ensure they were happy, healthy, and loved. Her children will remember her as a pillar of strength, a source of unconditional love, and an endless well of wisdom. Kathleen also adored her grandchildren, Zack and Ariel Steele, as well as Emma, Olivia, and Gabriel Rapoza. Kathy’s mother, Myrna Yocum, and her siblings, John Yocum and Chrystal Baker, will forever hold her dear in their hearts.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her father, James Yocum, and her siblings, Jimmy Yocum and Cindy Tuchel.

Services to honor Kathleen’s life will be held at the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists in Calcutta. Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Martin Chapel. Following the ceremony, Kathleen will be laid to rest in Riverview Cemetery in Martins Ferry.
