Margaret (Peggy) Helen Blower

1923-2023

Margaret (Peggy) Helen Blower passed from this life Sept. 26, 2023, after completing the final item on her bucket list by celebrating her 100th birthday with family.

Born Sept. 13, 1923 in East Palestine, Ohio, to the late Hector B. Moore and Sarah Ann (Ridge) Moore, Peggy attended East Palestine High School, where she graduated in 1941 alongside her future husband, the late Warren A. Blower Sr. Following his safe return from duty as a B-24 pilot with the Eighth Air Force, she began a new life in the Cleveland area as his beloved wife, eventually becoming the mother of three.

The growing family ultimately settled in Brecksville, Ohio, where Peggy was able to follow in her mother’s footsteps, taking up flower gardening and floral design. A longtime member and past president of the Chippewa Garden Club, she was invited to become a member of the Garden Club of Ohio’s prestigious Cleveland Guild of Flower Arrangers. Serving as a National Garden Club Master Judge, she advanced the art of flower arranging across Ohio. Later in life, she became an avid golfer, joining with her equally enthusiastic husband in couples’ league play. On Sept. 2, 1994, she joined the ranks of those making the “perfect shot,” carding a hole-in one, matching her husband’s total and thereby prompting him to later score his second. Several years after her husband’s passing, she relocated to Richmond, Virginia, while remaining engaged with floral design as an active member of Ikebana of Richmond.

Predeceased by her younger son, Douglas K. Blower of Wilmington, North Carolina; sister Alice Swan (Ed) of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania; and brother William Moore (Alta) of Englewood, Florida; Peggy is survived by her sister Nancy Johnson (Jim) of Dublin, Ohio; son Warren A. Blower Jr. (Ann) of Lexington, North Carolina; daughter Annette B. Ernst (William) of Richmond; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will take place in Brecksville Ohio at a date to be determined.

In the end, Peggy scored 100 in a life of faith and service earning an A+.
