Kay Arlene McKinney

1941-2023

In loving memory of Kay Arlene McKinney, 82, of East Liverpool, Ohio, who peacefully departed this world Sept. 28, 2023, at Salem Regional Medical Center. Kay, born Nov. 24, 1941, in East Liverpool, Ohio, was the beloved daughter of the late Robert and Viola (Coleman) Griffin.

Fondly known as “Bubba” to her cherished family and friends, Kay devoted a significant portion of her life caring for others. Her nurturing spirit earned her the role of a mother figure to those fortunate enough to know her. Her compassion knew no bounds, as she tirelessly extended her helping hand to all in need.

As a proud member of the East Liverpool Alumni, Kay cherished the bonds formed with her classmates and held dear the memories of her high school years as a graduate of the Class of 1959.

Kay was a huge fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, and on game days, you could find her enthralled in front of the television, cheering with immense joy for her beloved team.

Kay leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. She is survived by her children Greg McKinney and Melissa Obar; four adoring grandchildren, Ashley McKinney, Amber (Vincent) Ruegsegger, Brayden and Chase Obar; as well as her precious great-granddaughter, Ayla Ruegsegger. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her five sisters, Betty Jean Whiteleather, Sue Wasko, Patricia Tennerelli, Roberta Walter and Linda Pedersen; as well as her niece, Teresa Luther, and many other beloved family members and friends who were touched by her warmth and kindness.

In addition to her parents, Kay is reunited in eternity with her sister, Mary Ann Hawley.

A private family service was held Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023, at the Martin Chapel of Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists, where Kay found her peaceful rest in Columbiana County Memorial Park. Kay’s memory will forever shine as a beacon of love and compassion in our hearts.
